1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Inspowire (the “Application”), including any related browser extensions, widgets, or integrations, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (the “Terms”). If you do not agree, you must not use the Application.
2. Overview of the Application
Inspowire is a macOS menu bar application built with Electron and TypeScript that helps you organize design inspiration by reacting to screenshots you capture on your device. When “Inspo Mode” is enabled, the Application monitors the macOS screenshot folder, duplicates eligible PNG screenshots into a project-specific directory inside the Application’s user data, generates JSON metadata (including the active application name, window title, and optionally the most recent browser tab information), and logs each event locally for auditing purposes. The Application detects the current macOS screenshot location via system tools and falls back to your Desktop if no custom path is set.
3. Eligibility
You must be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction to use the Application. If you install Inspowire on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
4. License
Subject to these Terms, you receive a personal, revocable, non-transferable, and non-exclusive license to install and use the Application on compatible macOS devices that you own or control.
5. Configuration and Projects
The Application stores configuration data (including project names, auto-start preferences, and recent browser tab info) locally via electron-store within the Application’s user data directory, and it derives project folders under that path for organizing duplicated screenshots. You are responsible for managing these configurations and ensuring that project names and folders comply with any organizational policies.
6. Inspo Mode and Screenshot Processing
When Inspo Mode is enabled, Inspowire (a) monitors the detected macOS screenshot directory, (b) deduplicates new PNG screenshots to the active project’s folder, (c) generates per-screenshot metadata stored alongside the copied image, and (d) records each screenshot or duplication event to a local log file. Disabling Inspo Mode stops duplication and restores monitoring to the original screenshot location. You must ensure that you have the legal right to capture, copy, and store any content processed by the Application, and you remain solely responsible for that content.
7. Browser Extension and Integrations
Inspowire includes an optional browser extension that, when activated, collects page metadata (such as Open Graph details, favicons, keywords, and selected text) from the active tab and posts it to a local Express server at
http://localhost:5001/tab-info
, where it is stored in the Application’s configuration for potential attachment to screenshot metadata. By using the extension or any other integration, you consent to the collection and local processing of that information and agree to comply with any third-party platform terms (e.g., browser, Figma, or inspiration sources).
8. Data Handling and Privacy
All processing described in Section 6 occurs locally on your device: duplicated screenshots, JSON metadata, configuration files, and the screenshot event log are stored within the Application’s user data directory under the relevant project folders. The Application gathers active window information (application name, window title, timestamp) at the moment a screenshot is processed to enrich metadata. You are responsible for backing up, securing, or deleting this data in accordance with your own policies and applicable laws.
9. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
Use the Application only for lawful purposes and in compliance with applicable regulations.
Ensure you have rights or permissions for any content you capture, duplicate, or annotate with metadata.
Inform affected individuals if required before capturing or storing potentially sensitive information.
Maintain the security of your device and any local data the Application generates.
10. Prohibited Conduct
You must not:
Use the Application to violate privacy, intellectual property, or other legal rights.
Attempt to interfere with or disable Inspowire’s monitoring logic, logs, or metadata integrity.
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Application except where permitted by law.
Use the Application to develop competing services based on misappropriated information.
11. Third-Party Dependencies
Inspowire relies on third-party packages (including chokidar for file watching, active-win for foreground window data, express for local APIs, and electron-store for persistence). Your use of the Application constitutes acceptance of the licenses and terms associated with those dependencies.
12. Updates and Availability
The developers may update, modify, or discontinue the Application (or any component such as the browser extension or local services) at any time without prior notice. Updates may change or remove features like Inspo Mode behavior, metadata collection, or supported integrations.
13. Intellectual Property
The Application and all associated trademarks, logos, and content (excluding user-generated content and third-party materials) remain the property of the developers or their licensors. You receive no ownership rights beyond the limited license in Section 4.
14. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPERS DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. YOU ASSUME ALL RISK FOR YOUR USE OF THE APPLICATION AND FOR ANY DATA YOU PROCESS WITH IT.
15. Limitation of Liability
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR REPUTATION, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APPLICATION, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. THE DEVELOPERS’ AGGREGATE LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED USD $50 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID (IF ANY) FOR THE APPLICATION IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developers and their affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Application, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.
17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in your place of residence unless another jurisdiction’s laws are mandatorily applicable. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts with jurisdiction over that location, unless applicable law provides otherwise. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
18. Changes to These Terms
The developers may revise these Terms by posting an updated version with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Application after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
19. Contact
For questions about these Terms or the Application, contact the developers through the project’s designated support channel.
